This project is a comparative case study of the United Nations Missions in Liberia (UNMIL) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC). It seeks to investigate challenges to the integrated approach through a focus on implementation of UNSC resolution 1325 in MONUC and UNMIL.

An often stressed problem concerning UNIM is how to maintain continuity between HQ and ground level; between conceptual and doctrinal development and implementation on the ground. This project aims to identify these continuity challenges to UNIM on different implementing ground levels by focusing on the impact of SCR 1325 in MONUC and UNMIL. The project seeks to analyse in what degree the gender dimension is reflected in the budgets, the architecture of the missions, and the field in MONUC and UNMIL. The project will allow identifying challenges to SCR 1325 and UNIM from ground perspective.
