Pågående forskning
Tilknyttet Training for Peace-programmet. Arbeider spesielt med Protection of Civilians, fredsbevarende operasjoner og Sudan.
Stensland jobber med institusjonelle tilnærminger til Protection of Civilians (PoC), med et spesielt fokus på FN og den Afrikanske Union (AU). Gjennom dette arbeidet er han også involvert i prosessen med å utvikle retningslinjer for beskyttelse av sivile i AU.
Stensland koordinerer prosjektet A Global Governance Perspective on Regional Securitisation of Human Rights - How Human Rights Norms Impact on Peace and Security Policy and Action in Africa and Asia. Prosjektet studerer menneskerettighetenes påvirkning på sikkerhetspolitikk og -praksis i AU og ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) og fokuserer spesielt på rollen til fremvoksende makter i disse regionene.
Nylig publisert Training to Protect Civilians: Recent Developments and Recommendations i serien Accord Policy and Practice briefs.
