NUPI er i gang med et nytt prosjekt skal se på hvordan FN-resolusjon 1325 om kvinner, fred og sikkerhet implementeres i land hvor det pågår militære eller fredsbevarende operasjoner.

I en fersk rapport oppsummerer John Karlsrud og Trine Nikolaisen erfaringene fra Afghanistankonferansen som ble holdt i Oslo 29. september.
Les meirAvdelinga driv brukarretta forsking, politikkanalyse, konseptutvikling og assistanse innan fleirnasjonale, multidimensjonale operasjonar og tilgrensande felt. Staben arbeider både med sivile og militære partnarar i nasjonale og internasjonale samanhengar. Avdelinga har som mål å kunne dekke dei fleste fasettar av fredsstøtteoperasjonar frå intervensjon til langsiktig fredsbygging og tryggingssektorreform. Det blir òg utført evalueringar av pågåande nasjonale og internasjonale prosjekt og operasjonar.
Avdelinga består av fem program med til saman ti forskarar, rådgivarar og militærstipendiatar i Oslo og tre i Sarajevo. Ytterlegare ti–femten forskarar frå dei andre avdelingane på NUPI og frå andre institusjonar tar del i avdelinga sine prosjekt. Slike løysingar gir både fagleg breidd og operativ fleksibilitet.
